Philosophy of Science and its Relevance to Modernity

A Saturday School with Filiz Peach

Philosophy of Science is modernity’s mirror, that is, modernity’s way of seeing itself with clarity.  It makes science intelligible by providing conceptual clarity to make sense of the world we live in.  The modern world is complex and unpredictable, and we navigate through it the best we can.  We depend on science, yet we must continually question and interpret it.

Philosophy of Science looks at the limits of science and asks relevant questions. Can science offer universally valid truths?  What are the limitations of science? Can scientific methods be fallible? These are some of the questions to be addressed. Within this framework, we shall explore and critically evaluate some scientific ideas and their impact on humanity.
