A Saturday School with Jane O’Grady
‘Most of what is unusual about man can be summed up on one word: “culture”.’ said Richard Dawkins. In his attempt to achieve a seamlessly physical account of reality, he introduced the concept of ‘memes’* – cultural items that propagate themselves much as genes do – and it was taken up by Daniel Dennett. But does the ‘meme’ concept work, or even make sense?
* NB. Not Internet ‘memes’ but those of Dawkins and Dennett.
There will be a fee of £10 for attending this event.
